For everything there is a season and it’s finally time to bring our season of milking to a close. Godspeed Hollow will be retiring it’s milk program after 8 years at the end of April. Bubba and I had always said we thought it would be pretty great to run our program for three years so this long and fruitful season of eight years has been an incredible blessing to our family and an honor to serve our community. Our day jobs are growing and changing, and so are the lives of our children who are getting older and more active, signaling clearly that this is the right time to close this chapter (at least for now).
But what about raw milk access for this community? I’m incredibly grateful for a robust relationship with the raw milk community around the state and have been working with other local producers to provide solutions for your family. I’m pleased to say that April of Tide Creek Farm who is a dear friend and an amazing producer has been looking for an opportunity to expand her program, so the timing of this transition fits like a glove for her. I’ll be working with April in the coming weeks to make an introduction for you all who would like to continue to pick up milk here at the farm where we will host a weekly pick up. In addition, I’m excited to share that she will also be opening a drop site in St. Paul at Nottinghamshire Farms where you can pick up local, organic produce and other products in addition to your milk. What do you need to do right now? Nothing yet. April and I are working through logistics to ensure a smooth transition so as soon as we have those necessary pieces in place I’ll provide you with an update about actions to take. Thank you for being part of our farmily. This decision was made through many tears and hard conversations but we know it’s the right thing for our family. We sincerely mean it when we say none of the years of our successful farm would have been possible without the support of our community, including you.
